About Central Bank of Missouri

Central Bank of Missouri made its debut as The Smithton Bank in 1891 in Smithton, Missouri. It was founded by 48 local citizens who were determined to birth a local bank and watch it grow over time, and grow it did! The Smithton Bank withstood many social, technological and economic changes, including the Great Depression! By 1971, ownership passed to one majority and several minority shareholders. In 1980, the main bank was relocated to Sedalia, with Smithton operating as a branch facility. The institution was renamed Central National Bank. By 1986, the bank's charter changed from national to state and was renamed Central Bank of Missouri.

Today, Central Bank of Missouri is still growing strong! Our main facility operates from Sedalia with a depository facility remaining in Smithton. In 2005, we opened our newest, full-service branch in Columbia, Missouri. We offer every timesaving convenience to our customers, just as every other financial institution, with one major difference: SERVICE! Our staff really does provide the best service around, and our customers will vouch for that. And any decisions that need to be made regarding your loan requests are made right here. We have no need to call St. Louis or Kansas City so that some unknown can make a decision on your behalf.
